Polisher/Sprayer
The Rocket Group is a creative and manufacturing business based in Yoker, Glasgow. We specialise in design and manufacture of exhibition stands as well as offering clients brands marketing, training, and event management services.
The Polisher/Sprayer will be responsible for producing an exceptional finish on all our wood/leather/metal elements of bespoke exhibition and shopfitting products.
You will use a variety of AC paints, lacquers, and stains, and will be expected to work to high standards.
The role will consist of the checking over, preparation, spraying and finishing of bespoke counters, panels, and various other wood elements. Sanding, burnishing, and working the material is a very large and important part of the role which can sometimes be physically demanding.
Working with little supervision while following all health and safety standards is essential.
Key Skills Required
• at least 3 years’ experience in a similar role,
• be able to demonstrate exceptional attention to detail,
• must have experience with all furniture lacquers, paints and stains,
• desirable to have experience of spray metal coatings, but not essential,
• desirable to have a First Aid qualification, though training will be offered.
We are producing bespoke exhibition stands and bespoke shopfitting products where no two things are the same and therefore a problem solving, dynamic mind set is essential to success within this role.
You will on occasion be required to assist within the workshop out with spraying preparing exhibition stands and a variety on work on site which may involve worldwide travel.

We are looking for experienced Bench-hand joiners’ to join our growing team.
Based at our workshop in Yoker, you will come from a strong bench-hand background with experience of solid woods, veneer woods, MDF and laminating.
Working alone and as part of a team taking instructions from the workshop manager, you will manufacture exhibition stands, shopfitting, bar/gantries, wall panelling and all other joinery products.
You will be required to attend installations and assist the team in a muti-trade capacity working within the UK, Europe and across the world.
Duties include:
• Setting out from scaled drawings
• Work on your own initiative with a can-do attitude
• Manufacturing high-end products such as panelling, reception desks, bars/gantries, furniture, and museum products
• Creating cutting lists and using woodworking machinery
• Overtime – Late nights and weekends as and when required
What Skills and Experience do we need?
• 3 - 5 years bench-hand experience required
• City and Guilds or SVQ3 joinery advantageous
• Knowledge of using hand tools & power tools
• Experience of laminating is a must
• Exhibition experience & spray finishing knowledge would be advantageous
• Desirable to have a First Aid qualification, though training will be offered
• Desirable to have a Forklift licence, though training and certification will be offered

We are looking for an experienced Workshop Manager to join our growing team.
With a can-do attitude, you will oversee the day to day running of our joinery workshop, reporting directly to our Head of Exhibitions.
The ideal candidate will come from a strong bench-hand background and have at least 8 years’ experience in a similar management role.
This role requires the candidate to work from scaled drawings, setting out and delegating the production of exhibition stands, shopfitting, furniture and panelling. You will be required to work hands on as well as lead the team; be able to delegate and manage resources and skill sets; oversee quality control of the product, while ensuring health and safety regulations are always adhered to.
Duties include:
• Setting out and reading scaled drawings
• Manufacturing high-end products such as panelling, reception desks, bars/gantries, furniture, and museum products
• Creating production manufacturing schedules
• Organising Joiners, labourers, workshop & Storage
• Stock taking and ensuring materials & PPE is ordered
• Weekly production meetings with the Head of Exhibitions
• Overseeing site installations within the UK, Europe and across the world
• Overtime – Late nights and weekends as and when required
• Ensuring joinery products are fully satisfactory for spray finishing
• Line management – timesheets, production schedules, monitoring manufacture timescales ensuring targets and quality is met
What Skills and Experience do we need?
• 8 years line management experience
• Extensive knowledge of solid, veneers and laminate woods & plastics
• Strong bench-hand experience is a must
• Exhibition experience & spray finishing knowledge would be advantageous
• Desirable to have a First Aid qualification, though training will be offered
• Desirable to have a Forklift licence, though training and certification will be offered
